About Us

Getting PACE Working in New Jersey

A Coalition for Now and for the Future

The immediate goal of the Coalition is to represent the broad range of stakeholders who will most benefit from a robust PACE industry in NJ, including the following:

  • PACE program administrators
  • property owners
  • energy services contractors
  • local governments
  • project developers and originators
  • financial institutions
  • architects, engineers and construction companies
  • real estate developers
  • equipment manufacturers
  • industry associations
  • community organizations
  • schools, hospitals, and universities
  • public and private foundations focused on clean energy and resiliency

— amongst others (not to mention, as well, the general public).

  • By investing in energy conservation, renewables, and resiliency in our communities, we support the growth of NJ’s nascent green economy, create good, well-paying local jobs, reduce carbon pollution, and build stronger neighborhoods. So if you fit any of the categories listed above, please  join the Coalition and contact usabout the ways you can help.
  • Our first priority is getting workable legislation approved to allow Commercial PACE to operate effectively throughout New Jersey. This is an important first step, but we see the Coalition as going on to form the basis for an industry alliance that over time will press for improved legislation, Residential PACE, and a robust PACE “ecosystem” of large, medium, and smaller players to maximize the impact on energy use in all sectors of the community.
By investing in energy conservation, renewables, and resiliency in our communities, we support the growth of NJ’s nascent green economy, create good, well-paying local jobs, reduce carbon pollution, and build stronger neighborhoods.

So if you fit any of the categories listed above, please  join the Coalition and contact us about the ways you can help.

The Crew

A Team You Can Rely On

Here’s what we’d like you to know about the Coalition and the people behind it.

  • Our goal is to bring together a broad range of stakeholders, not simply to write a new bill, but more importantly to organize the industry in New Jersey to take full advantage of the opportunities that a viable PACE law presents. It’s clearly not enough to have enabling legislation — we have that now, in PL2011, c.187 — we also need an industry voice, speaking to local officials and state regulators, explaining the potential of the program to strengthen local economic development, save property owners money, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen our built environment.
  • This is a larger goal than simply establishing one program. As New Jersey PACE, we have gone as far as we can in advocating for an open market and for municipal autonomy in implementing PACE. We have created an Alliance of more than 50 contractors, installers, and energy professionals; have met with more than 30 municipalities (including the largest ones) as well as several counties; and have reached out to property owners, housing authorities, and community development groups. And as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our focus is on serving the needs of the public directly, by bringing knowledge, resources, and practical facilitation to communities, especially those most impacted by Superstorm Sandy.
  • Our immediate goal is to bring the members of an effective coalition together to make a viable industry possible in New Jersey. But we hope and expect that the Coalition will ultimately take on an independent existence and role of its own, in serving the industry statewide to maximize the economic, clean energy, and resiliency goals that are needed to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
